Abhinav Bindra - Olympic Gold medalist

Abhinav Bindra won India's first gold medal in Olympics in an individual item in the Beijing Olympics 2008. His medal was in the 10m air rifle shooting.

First Indian to climb Mount Everest

The first Indian born Indian to climb mount Everest was AS Cheema. He was a part of India's first succesful expedition to everest and climbed to the summit with Nawang Gombu(an Indian origin - relative of Hillary). AS Cheema was followed by other members of the expedition on the following days.
