Ann Cargill and The Nancy

Ann Cargill was a British opera singer. She went to India to meet her lover Captain John Haldane who was working in the English East India Company at Kolkata. But the then Prime Minister William Pitt the Younger sent her back to Britain in a ship - The Nancy. But it wrecked west of Isles of Scilly in 1784 killing her and her illegitimate child.
